The Echoes of Eternity Trilogy
The Mortal and the Shadow - Book 1
Some stories don’t end—they echo.

When Zema enters a residential treatment facility, she hopes it will be a place to disappear—somewhere quiet enough to survive the damage her past has left behind. Instead, she finds a mysterious shadow waiting in her room.
Tayce awakens in their realm stripped of memory but bound to a purpose they cannot refuse. Marked by the Eye in their chest—a mark of devotion to a Queen who demands everything— they are sent to harvest energy to restore a fallen kingdom and fulfill a destiny they barely understand, no matter the cost. Tayce never expects to encounter a mortal whose presence feels like gravity.
Drawn together by forces neither can name, Zema and Tayce uncover truths buried across lifetimes: secrets of control, fractured memories, and a love that refuses to remain forgotten. But the deeper they reach into the past, the more dangerous the pull between them begins to feel less like chance and more like a pattern that has been repeating for far too long.

The Mortal and the Shadow is a dark, hopeful romance about trauma, chosen intimacy, and the courage it takes to end a cycle that was never meant to be eternal.
Equinox (WIP)
Dystopian Survival
Darcy is hiding a dangerous secret—one that could get them killed if the wrong person finds out.
Jan is barely surviving his grief.

After a catastrophic solar storm shatters what remains of society, Darcy and their father stay on the move, keeping their heads down as they cross a hostile, half-abandoned world. Their goal is a settlement in the northeast rumored to offer safety—for people like Darcy. But every mile brings new dangers, and every stranger is a risk they can’t afford.

Jan has learned how to live alone in the twilight of humanity. He hunts. He grows his own food. He survives the brutal winters on his isolated island with skills passed down by his elders. What he can’t survive is the silence. The ache of loss. The loneliness he numbs with home-brewed alcohol and the watchful company of his ravens.

When a chance encounter draws Darcy and Jan together, something dangerous ignites between them—need, recognition, and the fragile hope neither of them can afford. Jan is pulled from the edge of self-destruction by someone who makes him want to live again. Darcy finds unexpected safety in someone who could destroy them with the truth.

As threats close in and choices narrow, both must decide what they’re willing to risk: their secrets, their survival… or their hearts.

Equinox is a dystopian romance about survival, trust, and the vulnerability of loving someone in a world where exposure can mean certain death.

Reader Feedback

JESSICA L.
The Mortal and the Shadow
"The Mortal and the Shadow was a cannot-put-this-down read. The characters and world-building was truly unique and something I haven't experienced before. I really enjoyed how we as a reader are figuring things out with the MC as the book goes on. There's magic, action, romance, self-discovery--what more could you ask for? I cannot wait to jump back into the world with Tayce and Zema, and see what T.B. reveals to us next!"

The Mortal and the Shadow
“I was totally engrossed in this story!
While the unique world-building and suspense kept me turning the pages, the real strength of this novel is the connection between Tayce and Zema. The development of their relationship feels earned, and I was rooting for them as they helped each other process their respective trauma.
I did feel there were some points in the story where the pacing slowed.
However, the emotional payoff was worth the wait.
There are some dark themes in the book, but they are handled with
Overall, this was an excellent start to a series I look forward to continuing!

The Mortal and the Shadow
"My only complaint about The Mortal and the Shadow is that the second book isn't currently in my hand. T.B. Valentine's world-building was absolutely amazing, complex, and felt lived in without being overly confusing. Tayce and Zema are two protagonists you can easily find yourself rooting for, and all the 'side characters' had such unique voices that by the end, I really felt like I knew them, too. Overall, this is a stunning debut that will guarantee Valentine on my auto-buy author list!"
